1. Identify the problem part, the problem behaviour
  2. Setup direct communication with the problem part, Acknowledge benefits
  3. Get clear signals from the part. E.g. one hard gets colder or warmer for a certain signal
  4. Ask the part for the highest positive intention of the part
  5. Ask the person’s creative part to create new choice or behaviour in fulfilling the intention of the parts
  6. Check for congruence – ask if all the other parts are in agreement with the new behaviour, if not, to back to 5
  7. Test and future pace
